Interesting because I was living in HK in the 90’s but don’t really remember hearing of Wong, or her music. Although, no doubt she was huge there and elsewhere and I was just oblivious to all the local pop stars. I was into EDM at that time.

😄This is no surprise= There are dozens of huge stars simultaneously in HK like a royal family affair, & they all interchange their looks so one minute Faye look like Bridgette Lin, next Gong Yi, or Maggie Chung, look out she is now dressed like Anita Mui in Heroic Trio, now it is Anita Yuen in from Beijing with Love ! 😂

Faye was most apparent in mid 90’s & popular with all age groups which increases her sales, but also she remain slightly aloof from media (while still using them as they her , for promotion), also her relationships were contentious matter. HK is very fashion one minute, horses corpse the next, so even every month new visage will be framed for adoration.

Lol. Yeah… Funny you should say, because I worked on a movie set with Gong Li, Maggie Cheung in HK. 😆 I even did an ad with Chow Yun-fat.

My ex (at the time) worked with Jackie Chan and Jean Claude Van Damme.

To me, they weren’t household names but other people were star struck.

Expats, models, actors, directors, used to hang out in Lan Kwai Fong, when Gilbert Yeung was DJ-ing at club 97, back in the day.

You work with talented peoples. Then CYF was so wonderful & Maggie Cheung so beautiful & becoming diverse actress, but HK is so quick & cheap everything shift faster than seasons. I remember walking out one theater showing new CYF film & when I get outside a poster for next film was being put up already. I think I should maybe just make nest under chairs in theater & live of dropped food !

Was the film "Chinese Box" (1997), directed by Wayne Wang ?
